I am convinced I have bowel cancer :(

I've been doing so well but then I started noticing blood on the toilet paper and twice, it has been in the bowl. It isn't every time I go, but I also have days where my stools will be loose then constipation for days before passing a normal stool. I haven't had any blood for maybe 2 or 3 weeks til Xmas day when there was some in the bowl.

Got to have sigmoidoscopy on 16th.

So scared

Calm yourself.
Did you check for hemorhoids?
There might be many different reasons for blood in the stool, not all of it cancer.
Keep positive. :)

Hey I hav a friend...who;s husband has been having rectum bleeding most of the times when he passes motion!
Its been almost 5 years constanty...she has been nagging him to go..but hes not bothered about it at all.
He said it was just hemarroids..and nothing to worry about. So dont worry...blood from anywhere doesnt mean bad news!!

I had and still have quite abit blood on the stool and toilet paper not all the time.

Had a colonoscopy done at begining of August and got the all clear i was sure like yourself that it was going to be something terrible.

Still looking into why i have blood but if i can reassure you that its always alot of outcomes and its so slim chance that its anything bad like that.

Thanks guys. I don't have bleeding every time so I'm hoping it isn't but get terrified every time I see blood in the toilet bowl. Probably just a tiny bit that is diluted really

Yeah don't worry! Especially if it is bright red. There are a lot of things that it can be, most of them harmless.

I have a similar problem. I've been noticing streaks or little patches of blood on my stool and on the toilet paper for some time now. I did a colonoscopy last month and was given the all clear. However, he found some internal haemorrhoids, presumably that's the cause of my bleeding, and did a rubber band ligation. That didn't seem to work though.

Anyway, I've noticed a pattern about my BM. Sorry if this is TMI... If I make a conscious effort to drink lots of water (8x8 rule), my daily BM will be loose enough not to irritate the piles. And my BM must be done first thing in the morning. If I delay till the afternoon, it usually becomes dry and harder, and I am almost certain I will see a patch of blood on it. So drink lots of water, that works for me.

I'm seeing a colon specialist again this afternoon for a follow up. Hopefully he can tell me why the ligation didn't work.

If you are constipated you strain and can cause or irritate piles which can lead to blood in the bowl when you pass a motion.

So I guess the first thing is to try and overcome the constipation issue which is quite simply really - regular fluids (water is the best), regular exercise and a balanced diet.

Stress can make you constipated or loose too - so worrying about it does not really help either. (I know that I am stating the obvious here and that it is easier said than done to not worry about it).

Good luck, I am sure that you will be fine.

I know how you feel. Im the same I go into a full panic when I notice any kind of blood.

Ok based on my own experience do you notice when you find blood in your poo you have like bad pelvic pain and bowel pain its like a sharp pain or a stomach ache feeling but down lower in the pelvic area. I notice I get that before I pass blood in my poo. I told my gp and I had a three day test with the lab and came back with no internal bleeding and nothing serious.

However the gp thinks I could have inflammation in the digestive tract which can cause bleeding.

I would go and tell your gp I understand that you are worried about what they will say but trust me it wont be that bad and they may send you for some tests like what I had.

My gp told me if she thought it was cancer she would have me on the bed and have a look herself. I agree there are so many things it could be that isnt involved with cancer.

I think the most scary thing about it is gps always told me in the past that having blood in your poo is not normal.

Anyway hope you find out what is causing it (((hug)))

I don't really have any pain. Went twice yesterday and there was no blood but that is Normal. There will probably be blood next week. I don't usually strain either when there's bleeding so it can't be from that.
