Tooth infection

Hello all i have a quick question past 2 years or so ive had a broken tooth, i cant chew on it so i leave it alone and it leaves me alone no pain unless i bite on it, i didnt want to get my tooth pulled because i like my teeth but i cannot afford to fix it so ill have it pulled i suppose my question is... how dangerous is a toot infection? i have always feard a tooth infection going to my brain or something.. i woke up today with some swelling which makes me realize its time to take care of this but that prob wont happen for a week or so, would there be major signs of a problem before something crazy happend? Tooth infections won't spread to your brain, you would be in absolute agony from the decay and infection in the tooth long before it could spread away from the tooth.

They arent really dangerous at all, just painful and annoying, so its better to get them sorted out as soon as they appear, or you get a cavity in the tooth.
