View Full Version : How can we overcome Health Anxiety?

I was doing so well with my anxiety and panick attacks and then after experiencing chest pains I was admitted to hospital with a suspected blood clot on my lung. After a CT scan no clot was seen but I'm being treated as if I had a clot to be 100% sure. So now on Warfarin for the next 3 months.
Going into hospital, having tests, not being allowed to have my family with me, not knowing what was going on etc was my worst nightmare and it has set me back in a BIG way.
So my question is how do I get back in control? I'm currently experiencing ear problems and worrying myself sick about it :(
Has anyone found any treatments or therapies to overcome or deal with Health Anxiety? How do I get back in control before it takes over my life?
Thanks for reading x

CBT is the recommended treatment for HA

I have recently started CBT and even after a few sessions it is making me think more realistically. I have been suffering bad. After a few months I can honestly say I think I will be much better. But if you go on NHS the waiting list is months and months so I went private. It does cost but it is worth it.

Probably a daft question but how do you go about getting CBT privately?

CBT, where I live, is like gold dust and was only "to be considered" if I accepted taking the antidepressants. :/

They have to offer you CBT on the NHS as part of the NICE guidelines so they cannot refuse it

Oh and the latest news it that they prefer not to give CBT to people on anti-depressants so that is wrong as well lol

Nope, I got told as that I was refusing to take the anti-d's, they were discharging me as 'well'.
