Tongue biting whilst sleeping

Hi I have suffered with HA for just over a year and am on citalapram but recently I have been woken 3 or 4 times a night with a pain in my tongue to find I have bitten or snapped at it. It is so painful and wondered if I was alone and if it was related with my anxiety/depression. Ian x

Have you ever been diagnosed with TMJ disorder? It's often caused by grinding your teeth or clenching your jaw while you sleep. Maybe you are doing that and biting your tongue in the process.

I get this sometimes too, another thing is grinding my teeth which hurts too. Not sure if it's purely related to anxiety or depression, but I've personally found that I do it more, consciously and whilst asleep when I'm mega stressed x
