Newly prescribed and scared

Hey everyone,
My doc just prescribed me this for my anxiety/ depression. I really want to get better but after looking at the side effects I'm really scared. I'm not good with medicine and get a lot of side effects so when I was reading that it could cause problems with your heart and brain and everything I'm afraid if I take it I'll die. Any advice or suggestions or shared stories would be much appreciated.

Hi RaeJae,
There's loads of information on the citalopram survival guide at the top of the citalopram page.
From my own experience, starting on a low dose - 10mg for a couple of weeks, helped reduce side effects and once it started working it really helped me.

I have just started taking this medication again. I am getting side effects but I remember when I was on it before I had side effects and they go after about a week. It is scary but if you stick with this site it will really help you through. Good luck. I am on day 2 today.
