Hi there

If it helps, this is a really common problem. I discussed this with the guy I had counselling with about a year ago, and one of the descriptions they use for this is "magical thinking". It's exactly the same process as when kids try not to step in the cracks on the pavement to prevent something horrible happening.

What we have to do is give ourselves permission not to worry about things, or the one that a lot of CBT counsellors use is the concept of "worry time". You *are* allowed to worry, but it's restricted to a certain period every day, where you then can worry as much as you like, about whatever you like.

It can be helpful to write down worries and then work out what the worst case scenario is related to that worry, as that is the real cause of it.

Hope this helps!

Apparently you can according to CBT? Changing that thought process is a good thing.
