Hi. Just been prescribed escitalopram as I have been suffering side effects while on 30mg citalopram. I am reading that the max dose for escitalopram is just 20mg but I have been told to take 30mg still by the doc and a pharmacist. Anyone know if this is right? Don't want to take too much if I don't have too

Hi

I personally thought the maximum dose was 20mg. I am sure I read somewhere on this forum that Ciparalex was equivalent to half the dose of citalopram.

Can you ring your docs for advice?

Just spokes to our of hours and I was right. Been told to take 10mg but definitely not 30mg. That could have been messy!!

Hey, that is so bad, it is just as well you are on the ball, keep us informed how you get on with the switch, i'm on cit too, have been for over a year, but still not 100% so would be very interested to know if the escit is better. good luck x

Yeah I know although the dr was not my usual and a junior one too. Regardless I have taken 15mg and I know that I have taken it bit anxious and warm face. I guess I just got a mix of cit and in me. I will keep updating as I really suffered with side effects on cut 30mg but felt it did the job for the anxiety

Yes i think cit is good for anxiety, but can't shake off this low mood, and have been thinking of a change myself.

hope you do well on the escit x

Day 3 of cipralex and all is looking ok. I know I have taken a pill but certainly more mild than cit. I am taking 10mg in place of my 30mg of cit and seems to be having the same effect for now. I have been told by makers tht the ratio is 2:1 between escit and cit.

Thanks for that, seeing my gp tomorrow and thinking of asking to be switched.

i take 25mg of citalopram will i just be able to switch over to excitalopram if they give me it ?

i think cit has done all it can now, and not much at all for my low moods
i'm glad you are coping ok, keep us imformed and good luck x

Yeah do it. Certainly seems a lot milder so far and I didn't have to wean off cut just took as usual. I would suggest starting on 10mg maybe.

What is the general feeling of people that have swapped from cipramil to lexapro?

I'm in the process of coming down to swap.... After a review etc by shrink , cipramil has been great for me but because I've been on a high dose etc just going to swapp... The physc mentioned about the QT interval time thing with people with heart issues and people who might be prone to it.....

I've had heaps of ECGs during my time on Cip and all good even had stress test from cardiologist and another ECG today after flipping out when I heard the research lol

We must relax more!!!!

How are u going with the change at the moment?

I switched, no problem. Lexapro worked better on anxiety than celexa.
