Hello,

Headache was the cause of my health anxiety.

I had a headache 24/7 for 3 years, fearing the worse and demanding every test possible because I would not accept that it could be caused by anxiety as I felt relaxed at times.

But after every test possible (MRI, CT, LP) everything was fine.

The doctor put me on Amitriptyline, wich helped alot.
The headaches went from 10/10 to 5/10.

Distraction it the key, I could not do with out Amitriptyline though as it is a proven medication to help with persistent daily heahache (that's what I was diagnosed with).

Any questions then email me, I feel I'm a headache expert as I spent 3 years seeing specialists and researching.

hey tony i feel abit better reading that you have had a headache for 3years...., but i was wondering if your headheads got worse when you coughed or yell???

i also feel dizzy and faint alot of the time i do get sinus trouble as well it's just that this feels alot different because i have never had a headache that lasts for more than a day in fact:D before this i very rarely got a head ache at all.

Hi,

The only time I ever got a headache was by drinking the night before, so like you I was shocked when my headache appeared out of the blue.
In fact, my headache appeared on Christmas Eve, which was not a stressful time at all, but a happy time.

I forgot to mention, I even had an operation to clear out my sinus tubes and an operation to straighten my nose, but after recovery the headache still appeared.

I still get them but I can distract myself and I tell myself it's anxiety.

Regarding your comment about being dizzy and faint, then the answer is yes, but it was because I was worrying that I had something serious and oh boy, anxiety can cause many symptoms, which has got me into a state today with health anxiety.

Have you been to see your doctor to rule out anything serious?

The doctor will check behind your eyes for pressure and the correct moisture in the eye.

I spent three years seeing doctor after doctor, specialist after specialist and I wish I just trusted the doctor in the first place?

One of the specialists said constant headaches is quite popular and he could fill a football stadium with people with constand headaches.

Always here if you need to talk?

Bending over and headache worse could be a simple sinus infection.

Have you booked yourself in for an MRI scan or are you going to ask your doctor?

I went private and it cost me £500 as I was so worried.

Bending over and coughing increases the pressure in your head by interupting the normal blood flow so will increase the headache.

Good to seek a medical opinion as well as to make some personal changes ie cut out cheese, caffiene, sugar and do some active relaxation like mediatation as well as some exercise.

Tumours would bring with it a whole host of additional symptoms that you have not mentioned at all.

I have had headaches/Migraines for years.
They sometimes last for ages.
Bending and coughing do make the pain worse. Have you checked with your doc that you havent got a sinus infection as that can give you those symptoms. Get your blood pressure checked as well
Also you can get headaches when you get hay fever so this time of year that might give you symptoms
You are doing the right thing seeing the doc to get checked out but your symptoms are not any different to mine and I had loads of checks etc.

Hope that helps. You will be reassured when you have been to the doc I am sure

I understand how worried you are ive had the same fears,i know how hard it is.
Headaches are such a commen symptom of anxiety and if you can understand how much tension is built up in your head it explains the headaches.
Do you have any relaxation tapes you can do each day? I find if i do my tapes everyday i dont get as many headaches as the tension is released.
Mine also get worse when i bend down or cough.
Take care xx

sounds to mee like a classic migraine brought on my tension.....I too had one that lasted that long and I let myself go crazy with worry which tensed my muscles up and made it much worse, Caughing, Sneezing, all of that causes muscle tension which constricts the blood vessels. Hiccups can be brought on by anxiety as well. I was a walking hiccup for about 4 straight days at one point. ......I went to the doctor and he gave me Midrin.......It knocked it completely away. I even got one recently after I had surgery....The Docs at the hospital kept giving me shots of demerol which let me sleep but I would still wake up with the headache.....Finally I asked the Doc attending to me if I could take midrin.....a Few minutes later he brought me some I kid you not the headache was gone in 20 minutes....It was the best sleep I had in a while, even with still having anxiety. I am sure you will be fine

worrying is alot Like a Rocking Chair It is something todo but it won't get you anywhere
