Well I finally saw my Doc and told him I'm still hardly sleeping and getting twiching all over and Brain Fog . He increased my Trazodone to 200 mg. He then asked me what I was worried I had this time . I told him CJD and he said well that wouldn't make sence for you to have that but I'll refer you to a Neuralagist cause there's nothing I can think of why you have these symptoms. That scared the crap out of me ! He didint seem to confident when he told me he didint think I have CJD . I'm really freaking out now scared I really may have this horrible disease. Help

He might be directing you to a specialist thinking it would make you feel better if you have good test results.
You know, we never feel that the doctors are serious with what they are saying, but it's always good to have it checked. The results will show you don't have it, so you will feel relaxed. Feel well soon.

With your symptoms and his admission he can offer you no further options I believe he has no option but to refer you on. Got to be a good thing, no?

My fear is that he thinks it's Nuralogic in nature. I know he thought I was nuts because when I left his office I heard him laugh and tell his nurse something about me. I don't no what to do I feel so hopeless and alone .

Dragi316, My doctor sent me to a neurologist mainly just to confirm what she had said. But please remember one thing Doctor are brillant (well some are) but they don't know everything they mainly everyday stuff and are not trained in things like neurology.

So what i would say your doctor is doing is saying to you you have not got cjd or anything like that but as you have shown fear of things like that i would like the neurologist to give you a quick look over and reassure you.

twitching all over and brain fog are both classic symptoms of anxiety. I had MAJOR twitching and was so scared I even begain to concentrate on speech and then started with speech issues (which I think actually caused me to change the way I move my mouth so they never fully went away). I went to my GP because I was worried about ALS. He sat there with a book and told me that he did not have any experience with the disease and so sent me to a neurologist (of course, his lack of reassurance did not help but as they said above, GPs don't really know about neurology and at least he was being honest). I went to a really nice specialist who was an expert on ALS and other similar issues. he gave me a full clinical and said that I looked fine and that it was anxiety. I asked him if anxiety could cause speech issues and he said 'anxiety can do whatever it wants'. Basically that anxiety can pretty much cause any symptom in the book. As he knew how worried I was he said he would give me an EMG and even had me come in that week so that he could personally do it. He was so nice. After he spent about half an hour sticking needles in my muscles (and sort of falling asleep - bothered me but he must have been bored), I asked him again about my speech and so he stuck the needle in my tongue. All was fine. My speech still bothers me but as it hasn't progressed and is worse occasionally then gets a bit better, I am resigned to the fact that my anxiety does it all. I am thankful for that, but annoyed that I let it affect me so badly.

Your doctor is ONLY sending you to get reassured as he will not be able to do the correct clinical tests that will reassure you.

Oh, I also noticed you are in the US. CJD is REALLY rare here. There was a scare in the UK (I was luckily vegetarian at the time when I lived there).

Hi thanks for responding. That helps a lot to ease my fears. And yup I'm from Chicago , But I'm not as worried that I have VCJD. I'm more worried I have the Sporadic version. But I will say I'm a huge meat eater and have been since I was a little kid. So that also concerns me.

I think all of us can read too much into the language and manner a doctor uses. I for one can think the doctor is 'concealing the worst'.

You sound as if you will be ok and the symptoms you describe are common to depression and anxiety.
