I need some relaxation music, perhaps not surprisingly rock and cheesy metal doesn't really work (although I have tried).

Does anyone have any ideas of albums/artists I could try? The music does need to have some substance, be melodic and posibly have loads of deep chords.

A guitar would be nice, as long as its in the relaxing category. I've tried Pink Floyd but haven't found them to be particularly relaxing; great yes - inducing relaxation nope.

Does anyone have any ideas? If you do, please let me know and I'll see if amazon has samples

I love anything by Enigma always helps me relax. Bit different, but worth a try on YT first to see what you think. Best album ever is MCMXC a.D. :)

coincidentally I am currently, right at this moment, listening to Nick Drake on my ipod at work. I've got it on random and this song "Hazey Jane" on the album "Bryter Layter" popped up and I can literally physically feel myself unwinding. Be careful of some of Nick Drake's lyrics as they can be a bit depressing at times, but the music and melodies are just sublime. Lots of guitar and deep chords as per your request. :)

Strange you mention Pink Floyd because its one of their tracks that never fails to calm me down and make me feel good. The track is On the turning away from the album A momentary lapse of reason.

Sigur Ros, in particular the tracks "Staralfur" and "Olsen Olsen". All their music is like one big soundscape, they sing in Icelandic and often make words up but that hardly matters. Phillip Glass is another one, This Mortal Coil and Joanna Newsom I find very relaxing too. I also love the piano works of Erik Satie and Debussy - they are incredibly calming. And Nick Drake as someone else said and not too depressing if you don't concentrate on the lyrics too much!

Ryan adams (not brian) - anything pretty much
Jose Gonzales - Heartbeat
Tool (if you like ambient industrial metal) - 10000 days
Jeff Buckley - Grace
Emily Slade - Fretless
Johnny Cash - American recordings 1 and 5

They all help me to chill and are excellent guitar albums (speaking form a guitarist of 15 years experience and former teacher and all round music nazi)!
