for the past year I have had a small lump on my gum above my top teeth.
I have managed to successfully avoid it until now, I am starting to worry.
I can easily scrape it off with my nail but it always grows back.
Could there be any explanation to what it is that doesn't involve cancer and is it worth going to the doctor?
I am worried if I go to the doctor, my health anxiety (which has been successfully decreased by CBT) will re start and I don't want unecessary worry for something that could be harmless.

I have one on my gum too, my dentist has looked at it and gave it a name (sorry cant remember what it was) but he has said it is nothing to worry about. I suggest you go to the dentist to look at rather that the doctor. I am sure it is nothing. Hope that helps.

Thanks!
Can you scrape it off like I can?
I have an appointment with my Hygienist in March so I could bring it up then.

Yes I can scrape it off, but then it hurts! Yes you could ask your hygenist, she should know, but if not check with the dentist. I really wouldn't worry about it as I am sure it is ok! Yuck I hate the hygenist, they always hurt me!
