For a while my mum mentioned off and on that she thought she could feel something lumpy in her breast. It just felt like kind of a hard mass, we werent sure if was actually muscle or something like that. She went for a routine mammogram and they noticed a shadowy mass of some kind. She didnt tell me all this until after she had seen a specialist (not sure what type of specialist its is for breasts??) and she said she was told it was just fiborous tissue and so nothing to worry about. I have just been reading on the net about women who were told similar things were just fibrous tissue only for a very apparent lump to show up pushing through the breast months to a year later that was very advanced cancer!
I want my mum to get a second opinion but she doesnt have health anxiety and trusts doctors at their word so just isnt concerned anymore and just keeps telling me its my health anxiety talking and saying shes been told she fine (apparently she was in bits while waiting tosee the specialist though). Should I push this and try and encourage her to go back to our gp and nag for a second opinion? Shes in her 60s which is a danger time for cancer as well isnt it?
