I have been suffering for a while with thick mucus in my throat! I have been to the doc and he said I have to live with it and that some people just create more mucus than others!

I have had a few tests but nothing major ie a scope!

What are the best ways to reduce thick mucus and does anyone have this?

Should I be worried?

I hate feeling rubbish all the time and having to hack up phlegm :(

Heeeeelllllllpppppp

For temporary relief, try mucinex (guafinesin). It thins mucus so you can cough it out. Also I would recommend neti pot if it is coming from your nose, or just gargling with salt water.

Hi there
This can often be a manifestation of allergy. Too much dairy can do it or, in my case, dust mites. It is also a symptom of post nasal drip. I find it worse at night. Flixonaise or Beconaise seems to do a good job of settling it, if that is what it is. Even loratadine/ hay fever tabs can really help. Alternatively a decongestant will 'thin' it out. To be honest, it can appear worse when stressed and one over analyses; it's a bit like the stress swallowing routine that anxiety also causes.
Either way, you will get through it i'm sure.
Take care
