Good morning!

Just wondering if anyone's had this. Last night I fell asleep only to wake up not long after to an umcomfortable pain in my upper sternum. It's the spot your chin would touch if you touched your chin to your chest...right on the bone.
I think it's muscular so I've tried my very best to stay calm. It hasn't been hard to breathe so that helped. The pain varies in intensity and it still is somewhat sore now that it's morning. It doesn't feel like heartburn, it almost feels like it's right under my skin, not inside. (If that makes sense! :))

Just curious if this has happened to anyone else!

Thanks and have a great day! :)

Yes I have a painful sternum, or rather it is the nerves and muscles around it, bu it feels like the sternum. Sometimes if I am lying awkwardly I waken with it sore. Hurts at other times too. Try putting some analgesic/ anti imflammatory rub like Ibuleve on and see if it helps. XX:hugs:

Thanks Valleybear!

I posted this a while ago and it came back last night! ugh!

It's quite a bad pain right on the bone...I don't get it. I have heard of costrchronditis..anyone with that ever had this part of their chest hurt?

Thanks!

Yes Jessica, I have costo and it hurts there. I have fibromyalgia also and generally ache all over too, but this very distinct pain has been with me on and off for years. I did used to panic dreadfully and have finished up at A&E once before. I still get it now and again and use a rub and a 2mgm Valium which I have for emergengies. This helps to relax the muscle as well. Does it hurt when you press on the strernum? Mine certainly does so that is a good indication that it is either muscular or related to thesternum and surrounding area. X
