I've been so obbsessed about my health this past week thinking I'm really badly mentally ill when it's actually my Ocd and my HA bouncing off each other

I've noticed every time I get like this I sink in to my own little world My body seems to switch off i get confused easily because I'm so focused on how I feel and I get highly agitated. I can't sleep properly and I feel like I'm out side of my own body like people can talk to me and I will switch off and stare in to space...

is any one else the same?

Hi

Yes I'm EXACTLY the same as you.
I hate not being able to sleep properly as I think that makes everything worse.
I also find I have no appetite whatsoever, not sure if you find that too?
I have no interest in going out and socialising and sometimes don't even want to speak to people at home/work.

You certainly aren't alone in feeling this way

Hi ladies...Yes yet another sympton of the dreaded anxiety.

I took this from our 'Symptoms' forum and hope it throws some light on the matter for you.

I get this too and it does seems to be extremely common.

Hope it helps....

Depersonalization, Derealization, Feeling of unreality

What you feel:

Now for the Brain , the limbic system in the brain instigates this whole response and is responsible too for our emotions and behaviour One of the body symptoms that people hate most is the one when you feel all foggy, surreal, woozy or spacey. You may either feel that you are not real or that the earth is not real and you're a time warp away. These are often the hardest symptoms to understand and its very common to deduce that you must be going mad which makes you panic even more. This is completely untrue and you are very safe.
You feel like you are not a part of what is going on, or that you feel like you are in a dream state or 'out of touch with things'. Also, things around you may seem like they are shimmering, foggy, hazy or too bright.
What causes this:

As we learned in Understanding, the body and mind are tightly integrated. What affects one affects the other. This symptom is another example of how an over stimulated nervous system can cause us to experience odd and impaired feelings, emotions and perceptions. Much like how a psychoactive or recreational drug can alter one's mental state, an over active nervous system can affect certain body chemistries thereby producing mind altering effects. The feeling of unreality or disassociation is one type of altered mental state that high levels of stress biology can produce.
It is not completely understood what goes here but it is generally thought that the limbic system in the brain decides there is too much going on and goes into a self protection mode and shuts out excess stimuli. As the adrenaline levels decrease and you calm down it clears. This can be several hours days or weeks.

Awww...the thing is, the more anxious we are, the worse it can feel.

One thing i would strongly recommend is 'You time'. An hour or two during the day when you can do something that doesn't cause you stress or anxiety. Time where you can give your head a rest and doesn't involve over thinking. Anything at all, even if it's having a cup of tea, a pk of chocci biccies and a good book. As long as it's something that doesn't involve putting preasure on yourself and gives you time to recharge.

Thats true its really bad in the morning...

The dr said it should calm down when my hormones do as I just had a baby last week so obviously this has set off my OCD and HA to the max! x

congratulations :bighug1:

It's true, if we are an anxious person already, any major event in our life can make it feel so much worse but remember one thing, there is no harder job than being a new mum. It's so lovely yet you feel like you have to be on the ball and alert 24/7.

Try to involve your partner in sharing everything with you so you get some time to yourself. I know it's soooo hard to try to switch off when you have a little one but remember your body has had nine whole months of hard work and some rest would do you the world of good.

Yeah, I am totally the same...when I start to worry I start to float away and get really hot and woozy. It is weird.

Thankyou! I think that's it the shock of being pregnant then not being pregnant and having this baby here that I'm going to have to look after for the rest of my life... so over whelming and daunting at the same time!! But also a nice feeling! I had a really good labour although I can't remember much of it!

I had this feeling in hospital and just got obsessed with it so I think that's what has caused it. I thought I'd have a baby and feel amazing after a sleep and wake up and be ready to go and take huge long walks around a park...

then when I didn't it made me anxious thinking whats wrong with me? THEN I start researching on the net symptoms and then think shit I have PND or Post natal physcois whe really it's extremely high anxitey xx

Hi Katie
Me too - its a horrible feeling isn't it - however, it does pass the more you try to ignore it or accept it - Bottleblond is right - make sure you get some "YOU" Time
