constantly dizzy and lightheaded to the point i cant do anything

I'm hoping someone can help me please.
I've had a dizzy/lightheaded feeling for about 4 weeks now.
its got to the point where I can barely stand up, can't go anymore and feel like sleeping all the time.
its got worse over the past week which is why I think its time to see a doctor.
I have a toddler to look after aswel and I can't even pick her up.
I've had a slight niggling ear ache that comes and goes and I read it could be that but I've had much worse ear aches and infections in the past and this has never happened.
I'm so terrified as my father had the same symptoms and a few weeks later he was dead because of bleeding at the stem of the brain.
I'm hoping its nothing serious but I'm terrified :(

Hi - yes go and see your doctor - sounds like an inner ear infection - which can cause this - he may refer you to an ENT specialist - it is very unpleasant - I know because my mum has this on and off - not serious but distressing, as I say go and see your GP tomorrow. Hope you'll feel better soon. Laura

i agree with laura see your gp, it may just be a course od antibiotic's for an inner ear infection, but you need to be checked over.

may be vertigo or a balance prop see ur gp

Look up this site www.labyrinthitis.org (http://www.labyrinthitis.org) and look up the symptoms. Its an inner ear infection that causes the same symptoms your describing, I've had it since last Oct, just recovering from it now as it an unfortunatly take a while to get out of your system, but with me the symptoms did improve gradually.
