Last year I was in a terrible state.
My dear uncle age 80 was so concerned and got me a couple of hours of work on a saturday doing voluntary work in a charity shop.
However even though the charity shop wasnt too far away it was awkward to get to.
Then he told the wrvs I needed something to keep my mind occupied and they have found me a little job two one and a half hours a week just down the road from me serving meals.
I used to go there when I was a community carer looking after people til I became ill with panic and anxiety 6 years ago. Ive been doing it for 6 weeks now.
Its so rewarding. I loved being a carer and did my nvq 2 and 3 in caring and I love the people that I serve.
They are all lovely and so appreciative.
I know it doesnt seem much but its so good to feel wanted again.:)

Theres a lot to be said for doing some community based voluntary work ! I'm really glad it is working for you, giving you back some confidence and self-esteem. :D We all know that, by its nature, anxiety is a very 'selfish' state and doing something to help someone else provides distraction and makes you see alternative perspectives to your own.
