Hey...the ESR test basically shows inflammation. The higher the rate, the more likely it is that there's inflammation somewhere in your body - but it's not infallible.

Worth making another appointment with your GP to find out what they think. Slightly high ESR on its own means nothing. Am sure there's nothing to worry about though :)

ESR can b high for a million different reasons, its quite unreliable really. Dont worry your proberly fighting a virus or small infection somwhere. My friends was high and it was a lab error.

I had flu at the time it was done could this be the reason?

Hi there,

Flu could cause this and also, my GP told me that this test can be quite unreliable. I also had a slightly high result a while ago and my GP ordered a retest straight away which came back normal.

If there was anything to worry about, your GP would tell you.

Hi, for the past year I have had so many tests including the ESR, which was normally low to middle 30's, now it is 40. The only thing is, the other tests haven't shown up anything. I have CFS symptoms, but because of he marker, my GP can't send me to a specialist for CFS. I thought it may have been down to my coil, but all it got rid of was my back ache, which had given me years of pain. With another dr's note signing me off for 6 months, I am no nearer to knowing what is wrong.

Good luck to all that is having the same problem and hopefully one day, we will all get the diagnosis we need.:yesyes:
