hi guys
as anyone had a flexible sigmoidoscopy was it painfull

I had one 2 weeks ago. For majority of it I didn't find it painful but it was a little uncomfortable when they when higher up and turne a little. It only lasted 15 mins from start to finish and I had no pain after it apart from the trapped gas for about an hour after it.

It depends entirely on who is doing it. I had one done and did not know the Dr had a bad name and it was agonising and when I had to have a colonoscopy later I was terrified but I got a different Dr and only had very mildest of sedation so knew what was happening and it didn't hurt at all ad that was the full monty!

If you are worried just arrange with them before the appt for sedation. I now always ask for sedation for any medical proceedure that might be painful.

I have had 2 and yes they hurt but I didn't want sedation.

I am having another very soon as well - can't wait!
