I have been suffering w/ panic since 1999. I had been on meds and was doing VERY well. Now I'm off the meds because pregnant (6 months in) and am falling apart. I really feel like I'm losing it. I do not want to do anything anymore. As a teacher I now have the summer off but now I feel as if my world is growing increasingly smaller. I am to panic stricken to do most things. I am not enjoying life anymore and find myself counting the hours until I can go to sleep again. I really need some support. Please help

Hi there and welcome to the site :)
I am so sorry that you are having a bad time right now.
I'm sure that some of it is the change in your hormones due to the pregnancy. It doesn't make it any easier I know but you will make it thru :)
If you need to chat I am usually on around 10 pm central time and we can gab about anything you want :) If a different time would be easier for you just pm me and I'll be here with bells on - lol
Look forward to talking with ya :)

Hi Puzzled, I am so sorry that you are feeling so bad at the moment. As sandy has said your hormones will be contributing a lot to how you feel. just take one bit at a time. Can you plan little treats into the day? Anything you like to do? Something creative, I took up knittong again just so that I had something creative to do, or making cards. I try and break up the day into little segments with something in each, a timetable if you like to try and focus my mind. You will get through this and you'll have your beautiful baby at the end - what a blessing.

Take care

Hi puzzled
i know you are advised against taking medicines when pregnant,my sister had a baby in january she was taking flouxetine and she was allowed to carry on taking it throughout her pregnancy,im sure if you speak to your midwife/doctor they may be able to suggest something,
hope you are feeling better soon

Hi Puzzled,

I just wanted to let you know that I too, had anxiety and terrible panics when I was pregnant. I explained to the Doctor that what was supposed to be a happy time for me was, in fact, a complete nightmare. He put me on tablets and I never looked back. Whats more I had a perfectly healthy baby girl who is now 12 years old!

I would ask for help.

Best wishes,
Christine

Hi Puzzled

I have 3 beautiful children. I am soo sorry that you are facing panic during this time. Just a few more months and you will be holding your baby. One thing that has helped me tremendously is breathing correctly. Hoping the very best for you.

Hi! I've been thinking about how hard it will be to go off my meds when I decide to get pregnant (not for a few years at least, my boyfriend hopes!). I just felt the need to tell you that you are so brave and so strong to have gone off them, but that if you have to take them, then that's okay too! Just best of luck and know that I am thinking of you.

Much love,
Michelle
