View Full Version : Hyperventilation Tetany

Afternoon everyone,

I jut wondered whether anyone else had experienced this on a regular basis when they have a panic attack?

The first attack I had (when I called the ambulance because I thought I was having a heart attack) my hands all curled up and clamped together and I could not open them - which just fed the panic.

The paramedic said he had never seen this before and it was that painful that I had to get him to stop the blood pressure test as I felt like my hands would burst.

I have frequent attacks and the only lasting effects (other than exhaustion) I get after I have had one is that my hands hurt because of this hyperventilation tetany. It feels like I have pulled a muscle in them or bruised them somehow.

Has anyone got any tips or advice on how to stop the tetany happenening or what to do to relax my hands quicker or stop them aching so much after I have had an attack?

If so please let me know - it would be much appreciated. :)
