Hi all

I've had a problem on and off over the years where I get very gassy, but not 'oh I just need to break wind' gassy, more like 'I'm full of gas and water, so breaking wind isn't an option'.

I've recently cut back on my Citalopram and suddenly my stomach is distended (I look slightly pregnant while usually I am thin!) and the issue has returned.

Is this coincidence? I don't think the... wet flatulence, is the symptom, I think the swelling is the symptom and the rest is a knock on of that. Doctor has never been bothered by this in the past (it's happened both while on and off Citalopram, though much more often while off, but never enough to find a solid pattern).

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the advice.

When I first had this problem I steadily cut everything out of my life. Without being strict about it (I strongly avoid rather than ensure my intake is nil), I have cut out lactose, wheat, fizzy drinks, chocolate and spicy food. Though I do have some of the above on evenings, it is minor. This seemed to solve the problem (combined with looser trousers!), but I still have problems from time to time.

Perhaps it IS coincidence, maybe I'm sat funny, or I ate something that disagreed with me as I was coming off the Cit. I just wanted to see if it was a known side effect :)

Hmmm, I wonder if the additional stress could be a factor... IBS or similar.

I will monitor it, thanks for your help.

Plenty of icy cold water should help you out:D
