Hi Everyone

Has anyone had similar symptoms?? Last week, when I went for a wee, I noticed that there was a little bit of blood on the toilet paper when I wiped (light pink) and a small "streak" in the toilet. I had been having a few stomach pains/twinges and just thought it may have been due to my age (47) and period related. Anyway, a couple of nights ago, I had to dash to the toilet for a wee around 5 times. I had not been drinking a lot, but just felt I needed to go. There was some blood on the toilet paper once again, and a small streak. There is no visible blood in the toilet at all. Also, I have felt nauseous a few times. I was still having a few twinges in my stomach/groin and right side of my waist.

I have been to the Dr's today. She asked if the blood was on my underwear (no) and said that any bleeding when you wee is not normal and needs investigating. I told her about the slight pain in my right side. She said that the Gallbladder is there and that I would be doubled up in pain from that (I am not). She felt around my stomach and said she could not feel anything.

I suppose the Dr's can tell from examining you, if there are any suspicious masses etc??? I really worry a lot!! She checked my ear and said that I had a temperature. My brother said that if it was anything sinister, you would not have a temperature. Do you think this is correct. She has given me Trimethoprin for 5 days and I have to do a urine sample. My brother advised me to do it quickly otherwise the antibiotics may start to cure any infection and nothing may show up.

I am hoping that it is just a water infection. My wee sometimes looks clear or yellow (not cloudy). Dr says if it is an infection, that's fine, but if nothing shows up, she may have to look at me again.

Any help or advice would be very appreciated:D:D

Thanks

hello:)

yes sounds very much like a water infection to me...im really suprised the Dr gave you the antibiotics first before taking a urine sample???? as your brother said the antibiotics will soon get to work so the sample wont be much use.

hi

I think that the Dr's normally give you the antibiotic if they suspect a UTI from your symptoms. Then, when they get the sample results, they may need to change the antibiotic.

Hi Emma

Thanks for your help. Did the Dr just diagnose you, before urine sample or have you had that done and got the result. I have to ring for my result tomorrow and I hate it!! I suppose that from Tuesday morning, they would have phoned me up, if there was anything terribly wrong with the urine sample. I have another 3 tablets to take I suppose they have helped, but I haven't really been rushing to the toilet since one night last weekend (before I had antibiotics).

I have got stabbing pains in various places all over my stomach and backache quite low down as well. I have a folate deficiency and wasn't taking the tablets prescribed (due to high folate levels the last time I took them), so maybe they are affecting my stomach. I have taken them properly for about 1 month now, but I think it can take 3 to 4 months to correct it. She did examine my stomach and could not feel anything.

How long do you have left on the antibiotic and how do you feel now?? Do you think that you may have a Kidney Stone?

Take care!

Hello Everyone

Well, I telephoned for my urine result today. The receptionist said the Dr had marked the test, for me to ring her. Of course, I started to panic. She rung me about an hour later, and said that the urine test was perfectly normal. with no blood. She asked me if I definitely saw blood and I said yes. My question is, if there was anything nasty going on inside, would it have shown up on the urine test?

I did the test on Monday. I had slight blood twice, the last time being on Saturday night, which was the night that I had to go for a wee quite a few times. Is it possible that the infection was clearing up and by the time I did the sample, it was getting back to normal?

I seem to have a slight sore throat, and my ears feel warm inside. Maybe I have had a virus too.

I have to repeat the test in 1 month and if I see any blood in the meantime, to go and see her and she would refer me to a specialist. This has freaked me out.

Anyone had anything similar?

hi, i would have thought the test would show anything suspicious, so try not to worry, its good that they are still monitoring you as my gp said to just go back if still in pain, what antibiotics were you on and how did you feel on them?

Hi Emma

Thanks for writing. Yes, I would have hoped that the test would have shown up anythng amiss. I have now finished the antibiotics (yesterday). They were Trimethoprim. Not sure if I needed them really, as it may be a virus. I feel "coldy" - runny nose, soreish throat and my ears are a little warm inside. Maybe when the Dr said I had a temperature, it was virus related?? I suppose it may take another week or so to go. My stomach feels like a giant washing machine, with stabbing and irritation in all different places, and the most terrible squelching and gurgling sounds. This may be anxiety related, as I have been so worried for the past couple of weeks! Do you think anxiety can do this?

I was on those tablets too, do you suffer bad with anxiety, i know i do and i am still getting stabbing pains in my stomach and is not nice at all. I think anxiety can cause all sorts of problems and unless u suffer with it will never know how bad it can be and disrupt your life.

Yes Emma I do suffer from Anxiety. I am a real worrier. Been through an episode like this a few years back and it's normally only to do with health issues. It's a horrible thing!

Emma

How are you feeling? I still have stomach ache on and off, then I start to worry. Then, the sickness comes etc etc. I seem to have a cold at the moment, so perhaps it is just a virus. Also, I was so so tired and had to go and have a short sleep in the daytime. I am not sure whether this is related to the stomach symptoms I have been getting recently, but I had been sitting with a laptop, more on my stomach, than on my lap!! They can get very hot and are quite heavy, so I think that this has been digging in to my stomach!
