Ok so for the last few months (probably a bit longer) I have been feeling so bad!

Extreme tiredness, spaced, dizzy, very bad coordination in my legs!!!

For the extreme tiredness my doc did blood and they came back ok, well after the second lot as the first results weren't as ok as first made out! (long story - wont go into it here) Anyway they came back ok, was a high white count so the fear knocked me badly but anyway thank god they came back ok!

But I really do not feel right and I need to know what tests I should have to find out what is wrong!!!

I feel worse always after I have had to do something and after just a little thing such as housework that is it I have to stop as the weakness that comes over me is too much and I can do no more and I start losing my balance and walk in to things! I thank the lord for banisters up the stairs to hold on to!!!

I have had anxiety for so many years now and I would say I have pretty much recovered from that but right now I feel that something is not right!!!

I want to go to the shops now but the weakness is just too much and I cant do it as I don't have the strength!!! I lose my balance and fall into things...

I had a smear last week and terrified now of the results as I bled and it hurt!!! My last smear was borderline so that worry isn't helping either...

What could be wrong with me??? Is it my heart as symptoms indicate it could be???

Please help me as I feel soooooo weak and unbalanced :(

What tests shall I ask for? My doctor always puts it down to anxiety without even checking anything!!!! :weep:

Hi
It may well be that your symptoms are anxiety related. I would just check that you have had your thyroid function tests done.
The good news is that if there were anything seriously wrong then the blood tests you have had as a screen would show it.
Bad anxiety can cause mental fogginess and all sorts of symptoms!
I have both anxiety and thyroid issues and I am trying to get my life in balance as I think it helps both your body and mind - so I am trying to get a good diet, excercise and am using meditation as well.
Hang in there, it will get better.
My grandmother had very bad depression and was in an asylum for seven years in the 1930s. She used to say to me when I was a little girl and upset about something or other 'This too will pass'. From anyone else it might have sounded trite, but she knew all about mental suffering, and she knew what she was talking about. This too will pass for you as well.
Hugs

Hi

Have to agree with beauty - anxiety can manifest itself into all sorts of things. Definitely agree with TSH - T3 and T4 tests - Folate levels, and Oestradial levels - if of a certain age!

I have requested these to be done only today.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother - poor lady - her problems could have easily been treated today - frightening thought that many of us on this site would have been in one of those hospitals!

Hope you feel better soon - know how you are feeling and it is horrid!

Take care Laura

Yes! Check you have had thyroid tests as the other posted stated!

I have an underactive thyroid and had terrible weakness before it was diagnosed and mental fog! I am being treated now with thyroxine and its going well. Your symptoms could be down to anxiety disorder alone though! If nothing comes up from any tests, just treat your anxiety like you would treat any other long term illness... look carefully at your diet, your lifestyle, your exercise, take multi-vitamins, try gentle yoga exercises and also seek therapy. Experiment with things and try to relax and take it easy whilst you overcome your symptoms! I am no expert but to me it doesn't sound serious, but if you visit your doctor regularly, keep up the various tests, maybe get a second doctors opinion.

I know its all very well to just say it is anxiety, which it could be! But it is still worth getting various opinions and tests just to be sure... I went to the doctors with my thyroid disorder in full swing, and I had tests for many things but only one doctor did the thyroid test which turned out to be why I was so dreadfully tired and weak! I am 25 you see, and had had a thyroid test in the past so most the doctors I saw except one didn't bother doing the blood test for this...

I hope things get better for you! You will get better! :)

Thank you all so much for your lovely replies!!! :hugs:

I wish I could believe you, I really do!:weep:

When I am walking down the street and my balance is affected and I need to sit down from exhaustion I find it hard to believe it could be anxiety ...... But I honestly hope and wish it is anxiety and nothing serious!

I try and focus on the positives... like if it was something really bad I would feel pain somewhere (???)
But why do I lose balance, walk in to things and drag my feet from bad coordination and feel soooooooooo tired???

I did have all the blood tests and I the thyroid test which came back ok!

If I didn't have anxiety I wonder what the doctors would think or what tests they would do .......... hmmmm or maybe they would diagnose anxiety!

I am sorry about all this I am just so so fed up with it all :weep:

Doctors who put everything down to anxiety really annoy me! I know it probably is anxiety but they should still use there noggin's and keep testing for different conditions! Its no wonder we all turn to google and anxiety gets so much worse!!

I always think they wouldn't dismiss someone who had never suffered from anxiety if they came back with the same symptoms they would be forced to think outside the box!! Grr!!!

Yeah doctors can be too quick with us anxiety sufferers :weep:

I do often wonder how many tests and attention someone from the royal family would get if they presented the same symptoms....

Anyway i suppose I have had blood tests and if there was anything (such as leukemia which is a massive fear of mine!) it would have shown in my blood tests... I need to really try and convince myself all this weakness and tiredness is anxiety.

Is it really possible that anxiety can make someone this weak, unbalanced, tired and lack coordination???

I just find it hard to believe as I used to walk for miles when I had anxiety and any exercise would actually make me feel better so why the sudden change???

Hi All! I too am having a HARD time believing that anxiety can cause this kind of fatigue! I feel like my body is fighting something!! it is sooo hard to get through the day!! and I felt ok just a few months ago! This anxiety thing is new to me (just a few months) came on out of the blue and hit me like a mack truck!!!!! Have another apt w/new GP today and am afraid as soon as I say the "a" word, he will just write me off!

Did they test your iron levels? Your symptoms sound an awful lot like me when I was anaemic. Even breathing was using too much energy, I'd eat and still feel like I was going to collapse, walking would take every bit of energy I had & I was terribly irritable because of it. I was clumsy and my heart felt as though it was going to stop.

This was only mild anaemia as well! I had a month's worth of iron tablets prescribed and soon felt well again :)

Yeah they checked my iron levels... I think they are ok as they didn't say there was a problem!

I am getting so fed up with this weakness feeling constantly now, I just don't know what to do, I don't even have the strength to make it to docs :weep:

I made it to the bottom of the road yesterday and felt exhausted!!!!

What is wrong with me :weep:

I would push for more tests, this sounds like more than anxiety. It's probably something really simple so don't worry. I felt like I was dying with my anaemia, it was so rough, but a few tablets and I was right as rain :) Keep pushing your Drs for more answers. Good luck x

Definitely push for more tests but also self-supplement with a good multi vitamin, and with minerals that are good for anxiety sufferers such as zinc, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and selenium.

"An abundance of magnesium and calcium prevent nervous tension. Calcium happens to be a natural tranquilizer while magnesium’s role is renowned in the relief of muscle spasms and nervousness. Zinc on the other hand is a diet supplement for anxiety that generally calms the nervous system. Potassium, much like Vitamin C, is effective in the proper functioning of adrenal glands while selenium is a powerful antioxidant that has proved to have anti-anxiety results.

Thanks guys!

Funny you should say about the calcium nicotine as I was wondering if decreasing my milk intake had anything to do with all this (gave up smoking a few months ago and went from drinking around 3 pints a day - I liked very milky tea with my smokes  - and now I am probably drinking less than 1 pint a day!) there might be a connection there and actually after talking to my herbalist recently she has told me to up the milk and cheese too!

Have had another drama with a bad smear result now so am a complete nervous wreck, I lost my mum to cervical cancer and always feel like its a ticking time bomb but I guess at least it is regularly checked - I have to go for a colposcopy in June. Can't help but think and fear the worst as I have had a lot heavier periods and painful periods I guess I will find out more in June.
I keep thinking the cancer must already be there and it might've spread to lymph nodes and all sorts.... arghhh it is a nightmare right now...
Smear result was CIN 1.

I did get back to the docs about my exhaustion and literally begged for more tests but she is adamant it is anxiety (also terrified now the cervical issue is related!!! )... Anyway she has prescribed beta blockers and said if they haven't helped after a month then she will do more test  ....
I do not understand GP's sometimes, they arrange boob jobs to help people psychologically (and rightfully so in most cases!!! But I do know a couple of people that have used that for the wrong reasons ) anyway so they arrange boob jobs, all I want is to see some sort of fatigue specialist!

Ok rant over sorry but thanks again so much nicotine and I am going to look into the supplements you mention as I do believe they can help so much! Thanks :) xxx

HazyMind,
If you feel that your GP is not offering you enough support/tests you can always have them done privately, I found this website the other day for myself:

medichecks.com

I never knew that we could have so many tests done without going through the GP, if you are seriously worried about cancer then this might be your best option to have tests, expensive though!

Thanks GreekGirl!

I have bookmarked that website - I don't have a penny spare right now but will definitely go for one of those if and when I can afford! Thanks! :) xxx

I would like a physical stress test of some sort as i always feel so bad after doing anything, like it could be related to heart or blood pressure etc but my doctor won't do it... Wouldn't of thought a physical stress test would break the nhs budget?

hello i feel as you do, i have been feeling like this for years i need to have my blood checked again for vitamin b.12 and all the rest, i read claire weekes books, as that what has got me through, sometimes i cannot practice as she says in the book when i have a setback, i didnt know that anxiety can cause this dreadful fatigue and tiredness dizzyness and feeling wierd fogginess in head as well as walking problems, dont know the answere, people think i am strong and if only they knew how i really feel, my partner has got complacent of me as he has heard it all before, so i feel very on my own, i think this anxiety illness is a very lonely one. i feel my reading the claire weekes books , it says its attitude, that counts, i have tried feeling positive, and looking forward,. i hope you feel a bit better soon.

Hi Lavender,

Thanks for your reply x

I know exactly what you mean about Claire Weekes - she got me through a bad patch and helped me understand my symptoms so reduced the fear and reading her book helped me immensely! - But now.... yes like you I just feel as if I truly do not have the energy to practice her advice like I did before! (This is another sure sign that for me this is more than anxiety!)

I know exactly what you mean when you say your partner gets complacent - people around me just do not take me seriously and because I have had anxieties before I think they and even my doctors think I must be immune from every illness :lac:

Anyway when I next have the strength to get to the docs again I will be asking again for hormone checks and also been having a few menstrual issues which I need to talk to her about, maybe this has something to do with it...

Also my herbalist has told me to cut out gluten so will be doing that (wow how I will miss pasta and pizza :weep: lol ) - I have been reading a lot about gluten and celiac disease and linking a few symptoms with it - anyway I will cut it out for a couple of weeks and see if it helps...

Try not to worry lavender, you are not alone with this but get to the docs even if it is the reassurance you need to help - get the blood checked again but I am sure you will be fine and make sure you take a good multi vitamin as some are vital! Hope you feel better soon!!! :hugs::hugs::hugs:

hazymind, i find sometimes that if i have to go somewhere that i enjoy, it helps, like buying a hanging basket etc, just to forget how i feel know wht i mean, i know its hard, even going to the doctors now i feel that the girls on the desk think her again! know what i mean, i take bach flower rescue remedy. when i was menapusal i was all over the place, i took magnesium ok tablets. i am in my fifties now and i sometimes wonder if all this is hormonal, anyway i hope you get on alright at the doctors, i have to fast before my blood test so, i will start to worry about the results. anyway good luck. :)

I know exactly what you mean! It's good you feel better if you are distracted by something you enjoy - do lots that will make you happy! - & it's a great time to invest in some hanging baskets! :D

I always worry too when I'm at the doctors that the receptionists are thinking "oh it's her again" - even when I phone to make the appointment I worry my name is too well known in there

Hormones have a lot to answer for with us women, it could be hormone related but anxiety also causes so many symptoms but it's good you are getting the blood tests and I reckon you will be fine! Good luck :) xxx
