Hi again,

Ive been gripped by social anxiety now for 10 yrs.
I go for CB therapy once a month and so far so good. It has opened my eyes up to myself and my anxieties.
I would like to know what some of you think of this treatment?
Are there different variteties of CBT?
I have had 5 sessions of therapy and so far so good although it does feel as though pandoras box has been opened!
I have felt as if the therapy was exposing some of my most inner feelings. Some dedad and buried memories from the past.
Does anyone else feel like that in CBT?... as though issues are being dragged up, exposed and dealt with?

Cheers by for now!

Hey at the min i am on a CBT group therapy course so i get to meet other people in our situations. I have to admit i am a little sceptical but i am starting to make links and question my thoughts so i think it is benefitting me. If anything it gets me out of the house so am am glad for that. It is a little difficult to open up totally in a group but i will be getting 1 on 1 sessions soon. The people are nice that i have met and you realise that your not the only one going through this. And if it dont work then at leas i can say i have.

Over all i am glad with how it is going

Cheers

Hi Freezer Ice,

My name is Isabelle and I have struggled with Social Anxiety for most of my life.

I have had lots of Talking Therapy and at the moment I have just done my Fourth session of CBT.

In Lincolnshire it is a computer programme called Beating the Blues and it looks at how Events determine a thought which determine a particular type of behavior.

It looks at negative thinking patterns and gives practical solutions on how to change them, doing pleasurable activities at least once a day to reduce anxiety, listing things to do in the week into priority order.

Makes you aware of specific problems in your life, what thoughts occur when these problems happen and helps you to find your own solutions so that you can solve the problems rather than feeling despair/hopeless.

I am finding this useful at this time in my life because it is a practical approach to my anxiety.

Love Isabelle xxx
