Hi,

I had a lot of regular blood tests lately that covered most issues... Such as thyroid, iron levels etc...

What I need to know is whether an average blood test tests for vitamin d and calcium levels?

Could phone docs to find out but thought someone here might have that knowledge....

How regularly should blood be tested for the most common issues?

Cheers x

Vitamin d is not checked on a regular blood test. I have low vitamin D and it is it's own test. I'm not sure about calcium though.

I don't think you need to be checked regularly unless you have problems iwht one of the things they're testing you for. For example I used to have iron deficiency and was tested every 3 months while on iron supplements. I now have B12 deficiency and am not sure how regularly that will be monitored.

Thanks - Yeah I was anemic when pregnant so needed checking regularly...

I was thinking along the lines of when you suffer with health anxiety, i know for me the reassurance of clear blood tests would be a good therapy every 6 months to a year if you know what I mean

(It might help to put my mind at rest)
