Results...waiting on doc call back? Scared! :(

I had a barium swallow a week ago,having heard nothing in 7 days I called the X-ray dept!

My results were in I was told but the specialist asked me to call doc for results?

I did this but the receptionist went into notes and asked if its ok for the doc to call me tomorrow? Why?

I'm thinking all sorts of negative things now! :( guna be long horrible night of waiting! Why cant the specialist who referred me give me results or even the receptionist at docs?

I would assume, although not a doctor, that this may mean there was nothing bad. I would think that if it was bad, the specialist would have gone over it with you him/herself. Also, maybe the doc is busy and it's not an emergency so they are just calling you tomorrow. Honestly, if it was bad, I would really think they would get you in quickly.

everytime i call my docs for test results they always say... ''the doctor hasnt had chance to look at them yet'' its probably just because they havent looked and dont want to tell you how lazy they are! they are not bothered that people get anxious waiting for these things! x

I had a barium enema once and had to go back to my docs. Its probably procedures that the specialist doesnt get involved.

as in all cases usually if there is anything really seriously wrong then someone would have got back to you straight away they wouldn't leave you waiting.
you would have had a telephone call by someone straight away or the receptionist would have had something on her computer and you would have been been told to come in and see the doctor.
try not to worry im sure nothing is seriously wrongxx

The results get sent to the gp. If there was anything to worry about then a dr would contact you.

There are certain results a receptionist cant give out over phone. Sometimes results come back where there is something showed up but not serious, so a dr can tell you over the phone.

Its hard not to worry, but if it was serious you would of been contacted.

Now the 21st and still waiting its been 11 days now? What's going on? :(

If your worried get your gp to ring the hospital for your results and tell them that your anxiety is bad, my gp would do this for me!

Just give it a try, nothing lost! Hopefully this will put ur mind at rest!

My doc just told me to call back on weds as nothing had come through! People keep saying that if there was something to worry about it would be through already but can't ease until. Know I am ok :(
