Silly question about blood test

Hi,

I have a blood test today, and I was watching the syringe fill up and my blood looked pitch black! Is this normal? The nurse didn't say anything about it, and I was too nervous to ask.

Is it black just because it's all together, like a glass of coke looks black, but if you spilt it on the table it would look brown/see through?

Yes blood looks almost black in the test tube.

its so weird isnt it! its nothing like when you get a cut, mine is also very very very dark red, almost black x

Blood taken from a vein for a bloodtest looks dark because it doesn't have the high oxygen content that other blood has.
It's perfectly normal. Learned about it in nursing class.
