Hi everyone,

I am 25 and have suffered with depression since having my first child 3 years ago, i have been on fluoxetine then 20mg citalopram up until today after months of pretending im ok it came to a head and I paid a visit to the doctor in a state.
He says the citalopram is clearly not working so has prescribed me effexor 75mg which I have to take as of tomorrow (took a citalopram today) I wondered if anyone could tell me how this could affect me and the main side effects of the effexor? It seems a pretty big leap 75mg from taking 20mg citalopram. I feel awful at the moment and utterly worthless, is this going to help me? thank you in advance x

Hi there and welcome, I'm fairly new here too. I don't know if you've already seen it, but there is a section for medication below, which is really good with loads of advice and info. If you've seen it great, if not, I recommend having a look. I've found it useful. Meanwhile, someone else may come along and answer some of your questions here. :)
