Hi guys. Possibly just experienced the worst news for any anxiety sufferer. A friend of mine has been convinced she's had a brain tumor for months. Feeling rotten, strange tastes in mouth, headaches. Doctor said it was anxiety related and I assumed it was too. I know I get strange tastes, headaches etc. he demanded a cat scan a few weeks ago and paid privately and last week he got called back in to be told there is a growth. MRI next week. I'm fob smacked and devestated for him. I also (selfishly) seriously don't know how this is going to affect my health anxiety. I just can't believe it. This goes against everything you are told. Also my therapist keeps telling me she knows not one person who has had a brain tumor and i now but know at least ten in my life! It's my biggest fear and now I don't think I'll beat this.

I am so sorry. Brain tumor/MS is one of my biggest fears too.

Earlier this year a healthy friend of mine got a virus that attacked his heart and he died. It really was awful for my HA. Another was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I am awaiting MRI results for a spinal/cervical scan because of pain and tingling in my arms and buzzing in my face. I am hoping after that comes back and is CLEAR that I can accept that all my symptoms are HA.

I am so sorry to hear that. :( I had a friend who was being treated for mental health issues until she was referred to psychologist who sent her for a MRI. Similar outcome. It's hard to accept it when the worst happens, and one of the hardest things for me was that I couldn't do anything to help. What can you say?? At least now the problem has been identified he can get some treatment straight away, that's what you have to focus on. There's a hell of a lot of people who make excellent recoveries from brain tumours, so stay in the present.

As for the HA...mine went through the roof too and I ended up having a massive panic attack when I had a headache for two weeks straight =/ (Ended up in therapy which was no bad thing!) Even now I feel I've almost recovered from that, every time I get a shooting pain in my head, I get the fleeting BT thought. Standard response, I don't let it get to me now, it's not worth the energy and it's not what she would of wanted x

I can relate. I've been in fear for as long as I can remember. Not that brutal anymore but still its there. Both parents died when I was at the age of 21. My sisters husband had a bt, a friend died from Leukemia awhile back. And it just sends you down into that hell straight away.

Damn, one can grow so sick and tired of always worrying about these things 24/7. :(

All the best to ya. Take care.

I too can relate to this my anxiety is at it's highest & every symptom is anxiety as far as the Dr is concerned. My friends mum has had stomach pain for a while Dr fobbed her off with pills she took herself to A & E last week had a scan & they think that she may have liver cancer they can't do a biopsy until after the Bank hols it's outrageous mu hubby was the same stomach pains until he insisted on a scan they found polyps on his gall bladder he is now waiting to see a specialist... I am losing faith in Dr's tbh but when do you know when to push for further tests I have had so many different symptoms that come with real pain I have lost sight of reality.. I hope that your friend will be ok hun ..

I'm sorry for your friend Lucy and also in how it isn't helping your own fears:frown:

I hope you can work through this and can keep your fears under control:hugs:

I know of only one person suffering from a brain tumor a few years ago, a friend of my sisters family. He was quite poorly but got treatment and is doing very well now with the tumor either not progressing or it having shrunk, I'm not too sure I will have to ask my Sis'.

Steve.

Hi, I understand your fears and I'm just the same, I nursed my sister with lung cancer and that is my biggest fear :(

However can I just say on the subject of bt's, my husband is on his 3rd! His have been benign, but of course they still grow. He has had 2 op's the 2nd one was massive surgery and when the 3rd one showed up he was unable to have more surgery, so they gave him RT.

I can tell you his health is much better than mine!!! BT's don't have to be the end...my husband is living proof of it:)

Regards

Trish x
