Can't sleep at night

I had a cat for a year that was my baby. She helped me stay calm and had saved me more than once with her cuddles. I had to give her away though because my landlord said no cats, so now I can't sleep at night. I worry about everything you could imagine. number 1 being spiders. I miss my cat...
anyway, does any one know how i might be able to get some sleep at night?

Herbal Valerian root available from health stores and chemists, I took it for years and it really helped.
I also play hypnotherapy CD's when I turn out the lights at night.

Sorry about your cat, it must be awful for you, I sleep with one of my dog's at night.

Lavender spray on pillows is also calming.

I can understant the spider thing because my son is terrified of them.
