Hi Kris,

I totally know that spaced feeling it's called Depersonalisation or Derealisation, Here is a site I found that might explain more

Kris,

Been there myself... It's certainly a weird feeling - maybe not so much a feeling as a hunch... You are still YOU, and you are still very much responsible for your actions... I've had feelings like this at times regardless of whether I've been on meds or not.

Numb face/forehead etc... thick skinned feeling... like you're looking out through someone elses eyes...

It DOES pass... I found that either distracting myself by walking a little, or drawing/painting/photography often helped.

Tell me, if you tried walking through a large supermarket in this state, do all the straight lines, and bright lights make you dizzy?

Hang in there... It's going to improve in time.

hi santmeister,
regarding the bright lights etc at shopping centres,i absolutely cant face them as it intensifies the feelings 10 fold.I avoid shopping centres full stop.Do these feelings ever cease?

Yup... they sure do... It would seem, in my oppinion, thet some people get hyper when anxious and other's get hypo... i.e. lower blood...

I am the latter... After my last episode a few years back, I found that once I had come off cipramil (it had helped me - I only came off it as I was returning to work and lead a normal life) my blood pressure came up to a more normal level (it was around 108/70, but came up to around 130/85 after stopping meds) and I began to feel stronger, and more alert, in tune, and less disoriented by what I call "large architecture" syndrome :)

It will go away once you start to approach your normal baselines again. It can just take time... took me a year - can take longer or less - just don't be discouraged.

Have a great week.

Steve.

hi kris, i have also had this symptom and it definately goes, my way of dealing with it is to just accept it. i know that does'nt sound very helpful, but the more you demand it to go the more worked up you get and the longer it stays - just remember it is'nt harmful, it is anxiety and nothing bad will happen to you.

good luck and welcome to the forum, i think you will find it helps alot

all the best, emmasxxxxx

Hi. I read this and felt I had to reply! I've suffered from these feelings for about two years now, it's a permanent state for me, though sometimes it's worse, such as when I'm tired.

Sometimes I've felt as if I must be going mad, but although it's a hideous feeling, it is one others have gone through and survived. I've found talking to a close friend helps a lot. Though it's hard to talk, I know, I've realised more and more lately that I need to talk about it.

I write poems as an outlet too, it's a way of getting feelings out into the open.

Realising that other people feel like this helps too. But it's a terrifying feeling and can make you feel hideously lonely, so {{{hugs}}} to you xx

Love Han xx
