Hi:welcome:
Been reading so much mumbo over the past fortnight in prep for my flexi sigmoidoscopy. Really scared myself and got hellishly anxious.
Anyway story is having this procedure due to some bleeding (only twice).
Anyway woke this morning at 4am wham, this is the day, mind started ticking and all that. My app was at 11am, so got myself up at around 6.30 to take wife to station. Drank some water etc, incidently I only drank water yesterday as well and ate very very lightly, boiled white fish and boiled potatoes.Come on its just for one day I thought, what the hell.
So .... had a nice bath with lavender oil to relax and then got everything ready to go. had to give myself a fleet enima at 8.50 am which i did, very slowly and laid with knees up for at least ten minutes, bang.....all clear. Waited another 45 minutes as thought the enima would be worse if believed all the horror stories:mad:. Drove the 45 minutes to the hospital by myself. So.... got there at 10am, nurse saw me to explain everything to me and gave me my gown and fancy pants:yesyes:. Then I knew I was going ahead with this. I watched people come and go for procedures and got more worked up. The app time went by and no sign of calling me........great loads more time to panic........should I do a runner!:shades:. The nurse came to get me at 12.20pm and took me in to the room....the specialist i had was amazing. He explained everything then did a quick examination with finger:ohmy:. Then in with the scope:scared15:, I felt a slight bit of uncomfort but not pain at all.... and I am the woose of wooses. I stared at the wall as opposed to the screen and thought of my favourite place i like to be.....yea yea it is a beech!. Anyhow the mind is strong as I just really got walking on my beach in Cornwall when i felt a little cramp which passed quickly 3/4 seconds, then the doc was joking about how good my enima was etc, a couple of more little bits of cramp but nothing a bit of deep breathing cant sort. Next he said thats as far as we can go then and he then started the pull out:yahoo::yahoo:. He then just dropped into conversation that I had done really well and that as a result of that he was able to go the whole way:ohmy:. Yes a full colonoscopy, no meds, no real prep and all pretty painfree. How does that happen:yahoo:. Anyhow I wanted to post here as I know many of you like me need some real advice and experience to relate too. I was back in the dressing room at 12.38 and discharged 10 minutes later. So it only took 15minutes for that whole procedure........So if just a flexi sig please please dont worry ,all will be fine.:yahoo:. My diagnosis was that all clear apart from grade 0ne piles:yahoo::bighug1:. Take care

Hi and :welcome:

I had one about a month ago and watched it all on the screen - fascinating stuff really.

Mine really hurt but then I have a lot of bowel problems anyway so it was to be expected.

Well done on yours!
