View Full Version : Why are there no helplines open?!

Over the last 2 days, I have searched the internet for a helpline to ring so that I can actually speak to someone about how I am feeling... there isn't any! Or, non that are open after 5pm.

I find it really difficult to understand why this is? Having now realised the thousands of people that suffer with this, you would have thought there would be several, open 24 hours a day.

Are there any that i haven't found that are open 24 hours a day??

Thanks

Natalie

I understand that the Samaritans helpline is a 24 hour one. They're not only for suicidal thoughts - I have contacted them before when I was feeling particularly low.

Thanks Leah...I did think about calling them but i wasn't sure so i didn't :s

I guess they are there for anybody in time of need.

Thanks again:)

They were wonderful when I contacted them during a 'panic period' recently. It was comforting just to know that someone was out there and willing to listen, no matter how much I wanted to talk. Good luck :)

Just to answer this simply - cost! It would be far too expensive to run many helplines out of hours.

Yeah I guess cost is the issue...i just think it'd be good to have an anxiety/panic attack helpline which is open at say, this time. I personally feel my worst at night and is when I need to talk. My family and friends are sleeping (lucky them!) and so its hard knowing where to turn.

The only place i kinow open 24 hours are the samaritans on 08457 90 90 90,they are good at listening the only drawback being they do not offer advice.

When i was in a very dark place about 10 years ago i used them and they were good.

I applied to No Panic believe it or not. They did not get back to me despite me saying I had recovered from panic attacks, been there and done that. They can't be that desperate.

I know it costs a lot to train a helpliner pancho so ask again. When did you last ask?
