Can someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE answer me? My friend who is a dr claims that the MILD headaches I get are sinus. My question is can sinus headache be on TOP of head & also BACK of head? According to this dr YES. He said most people don't know about BACK OF HEAD SINUS CAVITIES BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT AS COMMON. I NEED to know about both spots, top & back PLEASE.im dealing with this almost a yr now, since July 2011, & NO DR except this one is even giving an opinion because any other dr just doesnt know. I've been told its not tumor or life threatening, Thank God, but I NEED answers. I really need a response as soon as possible. Thank You!

If your neck mucles are tight or your jaw mucles, TMJ it can tighten up the mucles going up the back of your head.
I only know if I've a sinus issue when I bend my head down and it gives me a headache.
Pretty sure the sinus are around the nose, front of head and cheek areas but that's not to say it can't give you a headache.

Hi & thank you for your response. It's hard to find anyone who knows of back of heàd sinus issues. Most people think its only in front but I've read otherwise. It's just not as common . Any further info you have on sinus in BACK of head I'd be interested in knowing. Thank You!

Apparently, there are sinuses on the back of the head but don't quote me on that (this comes from my own reading as I've head headaches and possible sinus issues lately). I have no idea if they're connected to the others but it wouldn't surprise me if they were.

Regardless of that, inflammed sinuses can irritate the tissues around them so they can cause all kinds of headaches. Your doctor friend sounds knowledgeable and I think he's right.

When you're dealing with anxiety/panic, you tend to get jumpy when you start feeling pressure at parts of your head like the sides and back. It's only your sinuses, so nothing to worry about.

I've had the same deal, but I somehow manage to deal with it! :shades:

tension headaches also affect both front and back of your head, just FYI

I too suffer from various sinus problems and have done for years.
I get pains, tenderness and pressure in cheeks, above my eyes and various parts on top of my head as well as in my eyes.

I've had an allergy test and they picked up a lot of problems and suggested my ongoing sinus problems may be from allergic rhinitis. I take a nasal spray and antihistamine tablet on a daily basis and it has helped.

Sometimes if I'm anxious it makes me more conscience of the pains and tenderness I get, I also get dizzy and disorientated sometimes but not sure if this is my anxiety, sinus problems or a bit of both.

I also irrigate my nasal passages each night with a salt water nasal spray called sterimar available at most chemists. It has helped me a lot but took a while.

Hi,
I have suffered with sinus problems for about 8 years now and I get pain over my eyes, cheeks, side of nose and in the back on my head down to the base of my skull.
My ENT specialist gave me a Neilmed Sinus rinse kit, which rinses out the nasal passages by squirting cooled boiled water mixed with special salts up one side of my nose and down the other! Sounds gross but I haven't had to have antibiotics for about 2 years now and although I get very occasional pain I am not getting sinus infections any more! I would highly recommend it! :D

I also have sinus problems and experience pain all over my head. I feel this was something to do with my sinus's however I have managed to reduce the pain but getting deep tissue massages to my traps (muscle that extends from the back of your scull, out to your shoulders and half way down your back) suggesting that this could be related to tension from worrying about my sinus's. When this muscle Is tight you get referred pain on the top of your head, into your temples and down the back of your head. You can test this theory by getting a deep tissue massage and if pressing on areas on your upper back replicates the headaches you know it's coming from the traps. After a few sessions my headaches improved dramatically. All the best

if you have a sinus infection (i.e discharge from the nose, bunged up etc) and these kind of headaches too than they are indeed a symptom of a sinus problem

if you have no signs of a sinus infection, then these are muscle tension headaches

i was wrongly diagnosed with a sinus infection. i had pain/headaches between my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, sides of nose, and on the top of my head, but i had no other signs/symptoms of a sinus problem... it turned out my headaches were occuring because i was clenching my teeth in my sleep (due to stress) and was unaware i was doing it, and these headaches can mimic sinus headaches as they can occur in the same places. i still get these type of headaches from time to time, but not so much since i realised they're tension related and calmed down about them and just tried to ignore them when i had them. if this is what you have then lots of water is always a good idea, and camomile tea may help too as its a muscle relaxant, if it's an infection then sprays and antibiotics are your best bet Xx
