Hi everyone.
My right ear is a total nightmare, sometimes I wish it was just a hole and no ear drum at all. I have always had a bad right ear and some years ago I had an assesment on it at the ENT clinic. We are going back many many years and then my hearing in that ear wasn't as it should be. They did all sorts to check it out and it turns out my ear drum is deformed. They said this is due to too many perforations of the ear drum. At that time they said the only way they could treat it is by cutting me open behind the ear to get a better luck, of course I chickened out!
I have lots of ear infections in that ear, it even bleeds. I get crackling, and banging noises and tinitus. The pain can be excrutiating and sometimes it happens for no reason at all. The pain feels deep inside. I know that my hearing in that ear has deteriorated a hell of a lot since my last assessment at the clinic. I can't walk by someone's side if they are talking to me because I can't hear them, I can't talk on the phone in that ear or watch tv in bed if I am lying down. I can still live ok with this loss of hearing it's just a nuisence to me.
My main problem with this planes. I have a holiday bug and love going away. Problem is the pain I get on the plane when landing and taking off is off the scale. It starts hurting as soon as the plane starts it's decsent, and it hurts for a long time after. I know it's normal for people to have popping and pain on planes but mine reduces me to tears, I can't cope with it. Funnily enough though, it doesn't happen on every flight.
Does anyone else suffer like this? Should I go to my GP and demand it be looked at by a specialist? (Whenever I see my GP about it, they say they can't see anything and send me away).
