Going away for a few days and would like to take some diazepam with me. However I have noticed the expiry is feb 2012. How long will these be 'safe' to use after this date? Read somewhere shelf life is 5 years but is this from date of manufacture? If so, got prescribed them in 2009 so are they ok to take till 2014?

I only need on rare occasions this pack from 2009 has never been touched!

Thanks

I'm sure they will be absolutely fine, but my guess is the NHS will tell you not to take them (to cover themselves legally).

Can't you see your GP to get a new prescription? Explain what you have and how infrequently you take them.

Personally, just a few months out of date, I would take them and be pretty certian they were ok.

Yes, I agree with eight days. I am sure they will be just fine to take.
The BBEs are usually very conservative, and I really would not worry if they are a few months over.

Drugs by law have to have an end date.
Dry tablets are usually fine.
It's the liquid based ones that can go off : )
