All, can I please urge you all to give ACT a go. It is a relatively new approach and stands for acceptance and commitment therapy. My therapist put me onto it and it has helped me soooooo much. it really helps you understand what is happening inside our heads and teaches really effective techniques that prevent thoughts, feelings and sensations having such a dramatic effect on us.

I have been a long term sufferer of gad (20 years) and have made vast improvements in just 6 months with this book. sure, I still agave a way to go, but I now know I will get there.

Please give it a try.

Thanx Dan I will give this a try.
I have bought two books recently about overcoming anxiety and I'm still busy reading but I will try anything....
I used to be truly happy - with my 1st child I worried about her safety but not to the point of anxiety. Somewhere between having my 2nd and 3rd child I became anxious and always have this dread feeling like something bad is going to happen. I can't remember a time when I've been happy enough without these feelings - I really miss being just happy :(

Just bumping this thread up the board. A year on and I am a million miles away from where I was before I read The Happiness Trap. Please give it a try if you suffer from gad.
