hiya.

for weeks now i have been suffering with the sensation of something being at the back of my throat, i went to the doctor and he said that he couldnt see anything there, i keep trying the hock it up or put my finger down there to try to get it out, but it does not help, i also get alot of heartburn which is not helping the worry, i think that it might be a lump forming, and all these weeks now i have been so low and i cant go on being so scared, please help me!

Hi there,

Lots of us here have suffered with throat sensations which are due to anxiety alone. The feeling of a lump in the throat (called Globus Hystericus) is well documented. You could use the search facility on here to look up the many posts on the subject. I know it feels scary but it will get better as soon as you understand it's just anxiety and start to relax! You are not alone :-)

thanks for reply, its not the feeling of a lump like when youe watching a sad film or upset, its more like a tickle or feeling of a hair touching it.

i get this together with indigestion - it can last for days.

hiya,
it sounds like the lump in your throat could be caused by anxiety, but it could also be caused by having acid reflux. i'm going with u saying you got alot of heartburn.

maybe it would benefit u explaining this to your gp. i had the lump in my throat feeling and thought it was all down to my anxiety. but since been diagnoised with reflux and being on meds for it the lump has all but gone. i only get it now when i'm really anxious.

hope this helps

all the best

Hi there. I experience the same thing but further down my throat. I suffer from acid reflux and anxiety. Neither of which helps the other. It may be a good idea to check with the doctor re: acid reflux as he/she may be able to help with it. Im still trying to figure my throat problem out so i wish you mush luck in sorting yours.
