I have had a heart rate of 160 Beats Per minute during a 2 hour panic attack. Regular beats I think the paramedics that I called up called it Sinus Tachycardia to describe the beats. The first ever occasion this happened on was when I smoked weed on the last day of university (could that have been the cause for repeated panic attacks/heart rate increasing?). I just wanted to know the highest heart rate other people have had so I can feel reassured that although mine is high that other people have had the same too because apparently i've heard that people who have panic attacks don't get heart rates as high as 160...Can anyone tell me what their highest rate rate has been consistently!

Thanks!

I guess most of us don't check our heart rates when we have a panic attack but I was checked by paramedics once and my heart rate was 140

As a paramedic i can tell you a hr of 160 for someone having a panic attack is is OK,
When having a panic attack control your breathing , try to relax and tell yourself your
safe and no harm will come to you. Remember visualize breath in cool blue air, and exhale red air. I wish you well and good luck.
PS Stop thinking about it,

182 has been my highest for a time so you have a long way to go yet.

Infact i have heard of above 200 for short periods.

For over ten years I have had a physical heart problem that at times has my heart running close to 300 bpm for hours. During several 999 paramedic call outs they thought their monitors were duff and called out a specialist. Now the now it can happen.

300 BPM!! WHAAAAAAAAAAT thats insane! And this has reassured me. I have an appointment with a cardiologist to rule out any heart conditions...

P.S can smoking weed for a couple of months cause this / trigger it off?

It should reassure you 160 bpm is nothing. Weed can do lots and cerainly is not good for your mental health.

Hi mine has been on the monitors at 160bpm during a panic attack, i hate it it scares me so much, it just comes on all of a sudden, lasts about 5 minutes but i feel so drained after and so anxious x x x

180-190bpm during the worst of my attacks. Oddly though this happened a couple of weeks ago whilst I was up a ladder and although it scared me I sat down, breathed, panicked for about 5 minutes, let it pass and then slowly carried on working again.

Meditation ftw.

Weed helped push me over the edge. It's not the culprit. It just doesn't do you any good mentally. (In most cases I think)

Highest recorded heart rate cause by a panic attack (I sound like a doctor) :P 186 bpm I think.

During my fluttery moments my heart rate goes up to 155bpm (recorded on ECG too for posterity)

-210 at the cardiologist's practice during a stress test.
-201 when I had a panic attack during exercise.
-180-190 during a very bad panic attack.

This thread is really convenient. It helps me to think that I'm not an exception, and that there's more people with high heart rates. :D If you check the thread views, I suppose this goes for a lot of people.

180 with the paramedics sitting my the side of me

any recreational drug messes with your chemical balance some people will show it as a health anxiety panic attack others sit there twitching the curtain ie paranoid

It was definitely 170 at least once. I have a nervous system condition that makes me more prone to tachycardia and large adrenaline releases, but they were still pretty sure it was just regular rhythm and everything (was on a heart monitor at the time). In a way it should be reassuring that your heart rate can get high and your ecg is still good and everything. Most people don't have that checked.
