I am new here and have been reading your experiences
I was started on Citalopram 20mg yesterday
Last night i slept well but woke up with a hot flush and tingling in my feet
and was very anxious , managed to get back to sleep about 1 and a half hours later.

Did consider not taking the med again but i have and am now waiting for the onslought of the side effects.
Any advice support is welcome

Billy

Some people start on 10mg for a week or two then go up to 20mg to reduce the severity of the side effects :)

hmmm hard to say, I would say keep your GP in the loop as they are an important part of your treatment, try and give it a few days at the 20mg, see if the side effects subside. If they don't, then maybe consult your GP

Those side effects are normal for the first few days. I didn't have tingling in my feet, but I hardly slept at all for the first few days!

yea i had that as well for the first week, hardly slept a wink (it does improve though!). i went straight onto 20mg. Just keep with it if you can, it does get better.
if you cant, then see your GP before you think about dropping to 10mg.

Hi Billy,

I get the tingly feet thing, it does feel strange!

Keep going with the tablets, they get easier as time goes on, the side effects wear off and you can really feel the benefits within about two weeks.

Hope you feel better soon,

Take care,

Danny xxx

Hi Billy,

It ca be a bit of a roller coaster ride in the first few weeks. One minute up then down then up again. It does get better. You seem to have a great attitude towards it. I like your comment "see what today brings, maybe they will disappear". Great attitude, indeed. That alone will help you through this!

Day 11, not too bad but not as relaxed and calm as usual
Had some issues to deal with and hopefully things will settle down again

Day 18 I think i have lost count due to the fact that when i was put on Citalopram , I was sent for a chest xray and an ecg
The chest xray came back showing that I had an Enlarged heart Transverse Diameter
and then I was sent for blood tests which is really freaking me out
I am a total mess at the moment thinking there must be something major wrong
My Lungs were clear on the xray and the ECG was normal
so at the moment not really getting the good of citolapram
