Cholesterol Blood test news

I was told by my doctor today that you are no longer required to fast for 12 hours before a cholesterol blood test.

I know that quite a few members were worried about having to fast this long before this test - well now apparently you don't have to :yesyes:

That's interesting Nic. I'm having my first test in a month or so. Bring on the cakes...

This has been the case since a very extensive Cambridge study of over 300,000 test results in 21 published in 2009.

However in cases of high Cholesterol it is still preferred that you fast so other tests can be done such as blood sugar at the same time.

Maybe I should add ..... check with your GP if you are asked to get the blood test done and see if you do need a fasting one.
