View Full Version : Got a letter through the post from the doctors :-/
Hi everyone, I got a letter yesterday from the doctors saying I need to do a repeat blood test on my liver this time (GGT) some point next month. Really worried :-/ thanks for reading this.

Ok the GGT tests specifically for alcohol overuse and they test that if the MVC (size of the red blood cells) is large so if you have both and drink alcohol they will advise you to cut down.
Another cause of the MVC being high can be medication - are you on any?
Do you not drink at all or not much?
Don't take any medication and only 1 or 2 drinks alchole on a rare occation. I don't drink much water dont know if that has something to do with it :/

No I don't think water is anything to do with it

Yeah sorry I can't help anymore. I just know a bit about Liver tests and specifically the GGT one as that is not done as a standard blood test hence they have requested it.
Maybe you could ask your doctor what they are looking for

If it was urgent they would have said come in straight away and get the test but they didn't so it can't be urgent.
