Had a word with my care co-ordnator today at group, she recommended i see a health anxiety specialist for CBT. So i have an appointment next Wednesday. I'm really pleased because my paranoia about my health is really getting out of hand and is affecting me a lot.

Has anybody else had CBT for health anxiety? Did you find it helpful?

yes I have - twice. It really helps you to look at your thoughts in a different way, and helped me to deal with many of my negative thoughts. However I have found that I am still having problems and have been referred for mindfulness based cbt.
It really helps to speak to someone too - who wont judge you, and they can help you to understand the thought - rumination cycle and how the more you attend to negative thoughts - the worse they become. It teaches you the skills to become your own therapist.

I hope it works as I have been referred and I really need something to help me get through this crisis :weep:

Thanks

I have done mindfulness when i did DBT. It's helpful in some respects, i focused on it to stop self harm, but now with health paranoia getting every more worse, and it's something i'm not in control of, i'm hoping that seeing somebody for CBT who specialises in health anxiety will help!

I hope it works for you too ats666
