Hi everyone,

My GP prescribed propranalol 2 weeks ago. I think its greatly improved my condition and am slowly beginning to feel more confident.

I have a few questions for you all. Currently im taking 40mg twice or three times per day (morning, lunch, early evening) but the GP last week prescribed me Inderal ? (I guess this is a brand name for propranalol?) but these tablets are 80mg slow release.

Has anyone tried the slow release ones? What are everyones opinions?? Slow release or 3 times per day??

Also the "Time for Talk" service told me on Friday I would need to come off propranalol before starting any talking therapy, ie CBT. Is this true and if so why?

Thanks for your help

Aaron

I was on the 80mg slow release from when I first went on Fluxotiene 7 weeks ago, because of the side effects from that after two weeks he put me up to 160mg slow release and they have helped me loads, I take it first thing when i wake up and then do not hve to think about it anymore, it then keeps in my system all the time. So it works for me.

Can't answer your question about thereapy as I am only on medication.

Never heard of anyone coming off medication for talking,
sorry, perhaps there maybe some one else who can answer this, or you could
ask at your GPs , receptionist or nurse there, or give them a ring.
Take care

Hey, that sounds strange that they want you off propranolol before you start CBT. They cant make you come off medication without your GP's advice and if you feel comfortable with it. I had CBT a few years ago while I was taking propranolol and it was fine. I only take 10mg 3 times a day, I tried the slow release ones but felt the effects were stronger to start with and wore off by the evening. But everyones different!
