View Full Version : CBT/online resources for existential anxiety

A lot of my worries are to do with existential anxiety (eg fear of ageing, death, purpose of life, and other philosophical things).

Has anyone found any CBT or online resources which can help with this?

My Stress Control classes come to an end tomorrow, and then I'll have to decide what I want to do next. While I'm waiting for CBT, are there any online resources about existential anxiety that could help me work through my issues?

Sure, sent. If anyone else is interested I'm only sending it as a PM because it's too long to be a post really - it's just the general things I did to get through existential anxiety, mainly along the lines of CBT practise and knowing that this is just a fear like any other and it's all down to knowing that your main fear is based around how you cope with life, not life itself.
The reason why there are no online resources for help with this is because you deal with it the same way you deal with any other fear I guess.

CBT is the NHS' preferred therapy because it includes scaling (scales of anxiety / other symptoms which produce measurable scores of progress) and because it is a methodology which is relatively easily taught to non-qualified staff. CBT is no better or worse than any other form of psychotherapy. It is merely more easily measured.

If you feel as if your problems are existential in nature then why not seek existential therapists?

Best wishes

Paul

If it's not too much trouble, could you PM me also? I seem to spend far too much time in my own head, if you know what I mean!

I suggest you PM her. I've not seen her on here for a while so it's unlikely she will see this with the thread being started by someone else.

I know this is an old thread but I am just counting on my luck. Could I also get what you people have been looking for? I am having a hard time with existential angst and solipsism syndrome. Thanks!
