My anxiety has been bad over the last couple of months . But, I am trying to get through it without any prescribed medication. But, I feel like I would feel so much better if I could relax a little more and sleep better. Does anyone know of any herbal remedies that might be helpful? I've heard Valerian Root is effective, but, also heard it can be poisonous so i've never taken it before. Any advice would be great.

I have just started drinking Pukka night time tea with lavender, oat flower and lime flower. I also use Bach Rescue night spray. You just spray a few drops on your tongue. A few drops of lavender oil on your pillow and lavender oil in your bath.

I took Valerian for years to combat my insomnia and never had an adverse reaction to it. You can get a concentrated strong dose which is for night time only. Most of the herbal sleep remedies in pharmacies and health food stores contain some Valerian. You can also get herbal anti-stress medications which usually have some Valerian in them too.

I bought more Bach Rescue Spray and Night Spray today while I was out. I find they relax you and take the pressure from Anxiety away. Lavender oil is also good for taking a bath in.

I too find sleeping difficult, however for the past couple of years I have been listening to the Paul McKenna hypnosis cd. Called I can make you sleep. I play it about twice a week now and think it is marvellous. If you look on the Amazon site you will see it for sale, also you can read other customer reviews.I don't know exactly how this type of therapy works, but listening to this cd when I go to bed has helped me greatly, I think it is marvellous, and would not be without it. Try it you will be amazed. My Dr. Thinks it is a good idea too.

If I'd have known that earlier today I would have bought it from you Nicola. I was a bit nervous out shopping today so I popped into the local pharmacy and bought it there. I will buy it from you next time though if you still have it on sale :)

I have the Bach Rescue Remedy spray and the Rescue Remedy chewing gum. I have found them useful, although I use them in conjunction with my prescribed medication.

There are also Kalms, although I haven't tried them myself. They are available over the counter, just like the Bach remedies.

I also find these relaxation/mindfulness MP3s useful to help me get to sleep: http://www.excelatlife.com/downloads.htm

CBT could also be useful for you. If you're stuck in a long waiting list, you could try some online CBT resources such as CBT4Panic, or the Health Anxiety workbooks at http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resources/infopax.cfm?Info_ID=53

I saw Kalms today and was going to buy it, but I stuck to what I know best, Bach :)
