Please help - I have been worried sick about melanoma. I just noticed a small dark spot on my tongue - I have never noticed this before.

I have to start work in 10 minutes and I feel sick to the stomach :(

You might just have a geographical tongue.
What colour is the dark spot? Did you try brushing it off ?
Did you eat any coloured sweets or drink coke?

I just tried brushing it off - its still there :(

It seems red to me, it's small maybe a bit bigger than a pin head.

I had a drink of coke before but it doesn't seem the same colour.

I can't control the panic about it. I am 34 and never smoked and very rarely dri k surely it couldn't be mouth cancer :(((

Maybe you burnt your tongue, or ate something sour, high in acid.
Or it could be normal and harmless tongue discolleration like these:

Thank you for being there with some support xxx

I had some dinner, and now its a lighter red colour so it is a spot of blood. My tongue is a little sore maybe I have done something to it...

Hi ,
I've had these tiny red spots. And I think their harmless , my dentist have seen them and he wasn't concerned , he said as you get older some people get dark small risen lumps which are a type of varicose vein , again harmless . If concerned check with your dentist.

Oh also some times if you bite your tongue you get a blood blister.

it could be a blood blister, a flat one, i get them ALL the time! Cornflakes usually makes me get them, or something hot or something sharp. Normally dark red/purple in colur. can be tiny or really big.

it could just be from an injury like biting your tongue. I get them from time to time, freak out, and then a week later it's gone. Give it a week or so and see if it goes away.

Blood blisters on the tongue can look a bit scary when you're a HA sufferer.
