mine is through the roof i belive this is the main reason im walking around so anxious at the moment ive seen several drs and they dont seem to bothered that it is sat at 16 !!!! they have said at my age its not a problem and to relax about the hole thing its very hard though when u no its suppose to be around 5, you also see loads of adverts banging on about cholestrol and heart disease ( i have a phobia of heart attacks) im trying to chill about the hole thing ive changed my diet and am on statins but i find it very hard not to think about it, i beleive this is where my panic attacks are coming from
the dr did make one valid point i suppose that there are thousands and thousands of people walking around with high cholestrol and they dont even no it , at least with me they have found it

Mine is also through the roof despite medication. There are reasons for this in my case as there is a family history of it and extensive research in these cases shows getting it down is very hard and in most cases also better to leave it than treat it. The risk is initially having a T.I.A which is a type of stroke not by blood clot but by cholesterol flaking. These are not fatal but a warning. A simple preventative which my Doctor has me on permanently is a daily dose of Aspirin. You should discuss prevention with your Doctor with any family history.

No I am not saying that. It does run in family histories though. As you get older anyone can run a stroke risk. I have have quite a few TIA's and one small stroke and still here I think :whistles:

You do need regular blood tests when you have high cholesterol. However this is nothing to worry about. At one time my GP was doing blood tests twice a month and threatening me right left and centre to get it down but then following the research and checking again my family history stopped worrying and so did I.
