Neck pain that travels to head

This is one of the most disturbing symptoms i get, it like a shooting pain that moves from the back of my neck/throat to my head. It doesn't last very long but it leaves me thinking I've had a stroke or popped a vessel somewhere. Also i've been having some TMJ symptoms and that also causing headaches. Does anyone know if these shooting pains are anxiety related?

Ive been having really bad neck pain and upper back pains recently with stabbing pains in the head....I honestly thinking about it think its all muscular...i tend to tense up terribly when im anxious, to the point where i clamp my mouth together tight,,,....
This is quite a new thing to me the tensing thing but its def anxiety....i guarantee i will wake up tomorrow with pain in my neck, i had it this morning.

Do you tend to tense up when your anxious?

YES! sometimes i'm so tense that my ear twitches.
